The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of multicultural attitudes and empathy on cultural competence of nursing students. The subjects were 146 nursing students whose multicultural attitudes and empathy were assessed. Data were collected from October 20th to November 3rd, 2025. Using SPSS for Windows version 21.0, data was analyzed in terms of frequency, percentage, independent t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients and Multiple regression. The results of study were as follows. The average point of multicultural attitudes was 4.0 out of 5, empathy was 3.67 out of 5 and cultural competence was 3.35 out of 5. Multicultural attitudes, empathy and cultural competence were positive correlation. The predicting factors on cultural competence were empathy, religion and multicultural attitudes in order. The explanatory power of these factor was 17.6%. In conclusion, in order to improve the cultural competence of Nursing students, it is necessary to develop repeat study to verify the effectiveness. This study empirically identifies multicultural attitudes and empathy as key predictors of cultural competence among nursing students, highlighting the importance of empathy-centered and practice-oriented multicultural education in nursing curricula. The findings provide foundational evidence for developing educational programs applicable to real clinical settings and are expected to contribute to strengthening culturally safe, patient-centered nursing practice.
