This study investigated the impact of participation in cultural and artistic activities—specifically, multiplatform art performances in village concerts—on the daily life of residents and identified ways to revitalize local culture. To this end, the study examined domestic and international examples of village concerts that incorporated the character of community-based performances as well as the historical and regional characteristics of local communities. In addition, the researcher conducted interviews with experts and audience members who had direct experience with village concerts to understand their participation motivations and life satisfaction. This process also involved examining the relevance of the performance venues used for village concerts. The research method was qualitative and consisted of the transcription and review of interview data. The results are summarized below. First, participation motivation for local programs was high in the case of village concerts and cultural and artistic activities. Second, satisfaction with village concerts and artistic activities was found to influence all the variables examined in the study. Third, the unique place-based qualities of the region were prioritized when determining the quality of village concerts. This finding suggests that diverse spaces with regional characteristics formed the foundation for successful village concerts because of their connection to the flow of performances and the accessibility of participation. Thus, village concerts represent more than simple local performances; they are linked to residents’ participation in cultural and artistic activities and overall life satisfaction. Therefore, local governments should strive to develop and support cultural and artistic programs that take these factors into account.
