This paper is a study on the classical psychoanalytic review of compulsion (compulsive disposition) and the application of Christian counseling. The researcher considered the temperament of the compulsive disposition, the symptoms of the compulsive disposition, and the religious behavior of the compulsive disposition from a psychoanalytic perspective on the compulsive disposition that affects personality. The researcher examined the beliefs and actions of the obsessive-compulsive among the characters in the Old and New Testament from a psychoanalytic perspective.
Freud's classical psychoanalytic perspective focuses on finding the causes of anxiety and fear that exist in the unconscious that cause compulsive thinking and behavior and suggesting a cure. Compulsive Christians can be preoccupied with guilt, fear, and anxiety. Compulsive Christians can manifest themselves as compulsive religious practices. This obsessive-compulsive anxiety can add to compulsive religious behavior. In addition, obsessive Christians can be preoccupied with anxiety, fear, and guilt, as well as excessive moralism, perfectionism, and formalism far from the essence. The researcher studied the compulsive religious behavior in compulsive Christians from the perspective of psychoanalysis and Christian counseling. The researcher understood religious behavior in obsessive Christians from a psychoanalytic perspective and suggested therapeutic measures in terms of Christian counseling.
