텍스트 기반 교육용 어휘 선정 연구 = A Study on Text-Based Educational Vocabulary Selection

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 텍스트를 대상으로 교수‧학습이 필요한 어휘를 선정하는 ‘텍스트 기반 교육용 어휘 선정’의 이론적 토대를 구축하고 실천 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 먼저, 텍스트 기반 교육용 어휘 선정 시 고려해야 할 요소를 어휘, 학습자, 텍스트, 수업의 네 가지 범주로 나누고, 빈도, 산포도, 형태론적 관련성, 의미론적 관련성, 친숙도, 개념적 난도, 학습자의 능력, 텍스트에서의 어휘 기능, 텍스트의 유형, 어휘교육 시간, 어휘 지도의 유형 등의 요소가 교육용 어휘 선정 과정에서 어떻게 고려되어야 하는지를 고찰하였다. 그리고 텍스트 기반 교육용 어휘를 ‘필수 어휘’, ‘사고 도구어’, ‘기초 어휘’, ‘확장 어휘’의 네 가지 유형으로 체계화하고 유형별로 구체적 선정 방안을 제시하였다. 끝으로 중학교 국어 교과서에 수록된 텍스트를 대상으로 교육용 어휘 선정의 실제를 보임으로써 본고가 지니는 실천적 타당성을 확인하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to establish a theoretical foundation for “text-based educational vocabulary selection”-the process of identifying words that require instruction within a specific text-and to explore practical strategies for its implementation. To this end, the study first categorizes the factors to be considered in the selection process into four dimensions: vocabulary, learner, text, and instruction. Within these categories, it examines how various elements, such as frequency, dispersion, morphological relatedness, semantic relatedness, familiarity, conceptual difficulty, learner ability, vocabulary function within the text, text type, instructional time, and types of vocabulary instruction, should be integrated into the selection process. Subsequently, the study systematizes text-based educational vocabulary into four distinct types-Essential Words, Academic Vocabulary, Basic Words, and Imported Words-and proposes specific methods for selecting words within each category. Finally, the study demonstrates the practical validity of this framework by applying it to a text from a middle school Korean language textbook to showcase the actual process of educational vocabulary selection.
