This study investigates the determinants influencing the transition of indirect exporters—suppliers of intermediate goods—to direct exporting. Although these firms possess hightechnological and production capabilities as potential direct exporters, existing literature haslargely overlooked them, focusing instead on general non-exporters or established exporters.
To address this, this study utilizes the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to empiricallyderive the relative importance and priorities of the transition determinants. AHP is utilized tostructure the complex decision-making process and scientifically measure factor weightsthrough expert judgment. A survey of international trade experts was conducted to analyzethe priorities of key factors essential for the transition. Future research could include thescope of this study by considering the complex interactions among existing determinants.
