The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of object relation art therapy on emotional regulation of ADHD children. The subject of this study was 7-year-old child with ADHD diagnoses. He had difficulties to build relationships with their parents, siblings and friends because of his emotional control problems. As a treatment case, relationship art therapy program was performed one to two times a week, and 12 times for 50 minutes each.
Relation Art Therapy Program composed of comparative analysis of the results on emotional adjustment scale test in pre, post, and 4 weeks after post. K-HTP test was compared and analyzed at the same fashion. In addition, the behavioral characteristics and attitudes of the subjects were observed and recorded by using the observation points of each session according to the steps of each session.
According to the results of the study, the effects of subject art therapy on the emotional regulation of ADHD children were positively evaluated. Similarly, the effects of object relation art therapy on the emotional regulation of ADHD children were positively influenced by K-HTP. The effects of object relation art therapy on the emotional regulation of ADHD children was positively influenced as a result of observation through session by session. These results suggest that the relationship art therapy has a positive effect on the emotional regulation of ADHD children.
