    The purpose of this study is to explore effective approaches to improving the reading fluency of lower-grade elementary school students by utilizing an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. With the growing emphasis on the need for EdTech to support personalized learning in schools, this study applied an AI chatbot to reading instruction to investigate its potential for enhancing students’ engagement and promoting reading fluency through repeated practice. An AI chatbot–based reading program was designed and implemented for first-grade elementary school students. The results indicated that the AI chatbot had a positive impact on students’ reading speed, accuracy, and expressiveness, and also significantly improved their learning motivation. By presenting a practical case of reading instruction supported by AI technology, this study provides foundational insights for the development and application of AI-based reading support tools for lower-grade elementary students.
