Background/Aims: This study aims to review the types, characteristics, clinical significance, and technological development trends of upper and lower limb orthoses used to support motor function recovery in stroke patients. Methods: Based on recent literature, the characteristics and therapeutic effects of upper and lower limb orthoses in stroke rehabilitation were summarized. In addition, the development of orthotic technology, including the integration of 3D printing, smart materials, and robotics, was reviewed, and future research directions were suggested. Result: Orthoses in stroke rehabilitation contribute to maintaining joint stability, preventing contractures, and enhancing the performance of activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, personal hygiene, and mobility. Conclusion: The use of orthoses in stroke rehabilitation contributes to improvements in motor function and quality of life. With further high-quality clinical research and technological advancements, the application of patient-specific, eco-friendly, and high-function orthoses is expected to expand in the future.
