      The study introduces a methodology for analyzing the economic conditions of small businesses using BC Card payment data. We developed the ‘Consumption Vitality Index’ (CVI) and ‘Average Transaction Value Index’ (ATVI) to assess business sectors.
      Our analysis reveals a negative correlation between the CVI and ATVI confirmed by a fixed-effects panel regression, suggesting that excessive low-profit, high-volume strategies may decrease long-term revenue. Index movements varied significantly across sectors, reflecting specific business cycles. Comparing the ATVI with the Consumer Price Index offers insights into the business environment. Notably, a general decline in the CVI across sectors in 2024 indicates a downturn in Gyeongbuk Province’s service industries.
