To study the influence of wave overtopping of rubble-mound structure at symmetrical concave section a three-dimensional physical model tests were carried out. Model tests were performed for measuring the wave overtopping under various wave condition, freeboard and concave section shapes. As the central angle of the concave area decreased, the average wave overtopping volume decreased. Modification factors were derived for each location along the concave section. The modification factor in the section close to the center of the concave area was found to be smaller than 1, and at the location after 1 wavelength, it was found to be larger than 1. The results of experiments are presented yielding a empirical modification factor to describe the influence of concave section on the average wave overtopping discharges of rubble-mound structure covered by tetrapods.
