K-드라마 관련 해외 학술 연구의 지식 구조 및 동향에 대한 LDA 토픽 모델링 기반 분석 = The LDA-based Topic Modeling Analysis on the Structures and Trends of International Journals about K-Drama

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국 드라마에 대한 해외 연구 동향을 분석하여 초점을 두는 핵심 주제를 규명하고자 한다. 텍스트 마이닝 기반 선행 연구에서는 키워드 빈도 및 네트워크 중심의 기술적 분석에 머물러, 연구 주제의 의미나 담론 구조를 심층적으로 분석하는 데 한계가 있었다. 이러한 점을 보완하기 위하여 본 연구는 LDA 기반 토픽 모델링 기법을 적용하여 정량적 분석을 수행하였다. 2001년부터 2024년까지 해외 학술지에 게재된 논문을 대상으로 토픽 모델링 분석을 실행한 결과, 총 5개의 토픽으로 (1) K-드라마를 통해 나타난 국가 이미지 및 문화 정체성 (2) 아시아 지역 내 K-드라마에 대한 인식 (3) K-드라마의 셀럽에 대한 소비자 수용 (4) K-드라마 글로벌화 및 산업 확산 (5) K-드라마의 팬덤과 산업 경쟁력이 추출되었다. 이를 통해 해외 연구는 한국 드라마의 콘텐츠 특성에 초점을 두기보다 거시적이고 외부적인 관점에서 K-드라마 소비로 파생되는 경제적 가치 및 산업적 파급력에 주목하고 있음을 보여주었다. 이는 K-드라마가 단순한 대중문화 콘텐츠의 차원를 넘어 문화 산업 및 국가 브랜드 형성에 기여하는 중요한 연구 대상으로 부상하였음을 시사한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The current study attempted to delineate key themes by examining the trends in international academic journals on Korean drama. Prior text-mining-driven literature predominately employed keyword frequency and keyword network analyses, however, those methods had the limitations in capturing the deeper meanings and discoursive structures of academic subjects. To address these limitations, the study conducted a quantitative analysis, utilizing LDA-based topic modeling. As a results of topic-modeling analysis on the international academic papers published from 2001 to 2024, a total of 5 topics were identified; (1) national image and cultural identity through K-drama consumption (2) regional reception of K-drama in Asia (3) consumer behavior and cultural reception of K-drama (4) globalization and industry analysis of K-drama (5) fandom and cultural industry competitiveness of K-drama. These findings indicate that international scholarship tends to focus more on outward, economic and industrial values of Korean drama consumption rather than the internal characteristics of drama narratives. This implies that K-drama has evolves into an important academic subject that contributes to shaping culture industry and enhancing national brands beyond their original status as mere forms of popular media.
