The purpose of this study was to analyze the types of sports injuries among adolescent swimmers and their subsequent impacts on rehabilitation and athletic performance. The study involved adolescent swimmers affiliated with D Metropolitan City. A survey was conducted over two weeks, with 140 questionnaires distributed; after excluding 39 respondents without sports injury experience, 101 valid responses were analyzed. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS/PC Ver. 29.0 statistical software.
Demographic characteristics were assessed through frequency analysis, while a cross-tabulation analysis was employed to identify performance factors according to types of sports injuries, with statistical significance set at p<.05.
The findings revealed that sports injuries among adolescent swimmers predominantly occurred during practice sessions, frequently affecting the shoulder region. Injuries to the shoulder were mostly characterized by sprains and muscle pain, significantly prolonging the recovery period and impacting athletic performance. The study highlights the importance of developing more effective sports injury prevention programs and emphasizes the necessity for prompt and specialized rehabilitation treatments following injury occurrences.
Future research should focus on designing customized injury prevention and rehabilitation programs that specifically reflect the physical and technical attributes of adolescent swimmers. Additionally, longitudinal studies verifying the effectiveness of such developed programs are recommended.
