The purpose of this study is to derive an operational definition and components of early childhood global citizenship. Observation was made on developmental characteristics of young children and the applicability of educational settings through expert Delphi surveys. The research methods included literature analysis and two rounds of Delphi surveys. The validity of the operational definition and components of early childhood global citizenship was examined by nine experts. As a result, early childhood global citizenship was defined as “a civic way of being in which young children feel connected to themselves, others, and the world through play and daily life, respect various differences such as gender, culture, language, and race, and practice responsible attitudes as members of a community.” Three components were derived: understanding, respecting, and collaborating. This study is significant in that it fills the gap in early childhood global citizenship research and provides a practical foundation applicable to educational settings.
