Minjung theology considers how to interpret postmodernism. First, we examine the discourse on postmodernism in Korea. To achieve this, we will examine the meaning of postmodernism in the West and its main trends. Next, we categorise the various views on postmodernism that have entered Korean society into three types: negative, positive and critical acceptance. Secondly, we will explore how Minjung theology interprets postmodernism. Generally speaking, second-generation Minjung theologians view postmodern theology as part of the dominant culture and have a negative perception of it. Only a few first-and third-generation Minjung theologians are doing Minjung theology from a postmodern perspective. In the midst of this, the writer is exploring the possibility of aligning people's theology with the deconstructive and liberating characteristics of postmodern theology. Finally, we will examine three elements of Minjung theology that exhibit postmodern characteristics. The first is the concept of God in Minjung theology; the second is the combination of sacred and secular stories; and the third is the reflection on postmodernism in the use of Minjung's story as a theological method. In this respect, Minjung theology already incorporates postmodern elements. The writer suggests that Minjung theology should embrace postmodernism with caution and scrutiny. This article, in particular, limits postmodernism to a sociophilosophical perspective.
