Purpose : The export and import policies and foreign policies of national leaders have a significant impact on our country's export and import competitiveness and have a significant impact on economic growth, so we conducted the study. It is true that the roles of these regimes' foreign and trade policies have a significant impact on our exports and economic growth. Therefore, this study aims to study the relationship between the foreign policies of the Republic of Korea from the establishment of the national government in 1948 to the 19th president of the 6th Republic and Korea's export and import.
Research design, data, methodology : This study examined Korean trade statistics and each government's economic, trade, and foreign policies to study the impact on exports. The basic foundation of the study was a review of prior research and a review of literature and statistical data.
Results : The response of Korea's foreign trade policy to be managed after 2025 is to adapt to the strengthening of global norms and the rapid changes in the political environment, such as the trade war between the US and China for hegemony and tariffs and reciprocal tariffs. First, efforts are needed to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the materials and parts industry policy in order to respond to the recent weakening of the WTO system and the global value chain. The trade policy of the Trump administration is likely to weaken the WTO system and the global value chain. In addition, Korea's future policy response needs to focus on structural changes in the world trade order, such as the weakening of the WTO system and the global value chain, and the resulting decrease in global trade volume.
Conclusions : The trade policy that we should pursue in the future is to build a global supply chain. To do this, we need to build a product network with many countries in a diversified environment. In particular, we need to strengthen supply chain cooperation with major mineral reserve countries such as Australia and Brazil for mineral resource supply chain cooperation. In particular, global standards such as ESG and RE100 should make companies strive to develop new technologies and secure supply chains.
