This study examines the drivers and prospects of defense industry cooperation between South Korea and Poland, focusing on the arms agreement concluded on July 27, 2022. Following the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Poland's military modernization efforts and substantial defense budget increases prompted the nation to select South Korea as a strategic partner to strengthen its autonomous defense capabilities. As the world's ninth-largest arms exporter, South Korea responded to Poland's requirements by offering competitive systems such as K2 tanks and K9 self-propelled howitzers, with rapid delivery schedules and technology transfer possibilities. This partnership yields complementary benefits: Poland enhances its security influence on NATO's eastern flank while South Korea strengthens its export foundation in the European market. Nevertheless, the EU's autonomous defense policy orientation and intensified competition with traditional arms suppliers like France and Germany may present future challenges.
