한-인도 수출다각화 및 집중도와 수출입 간의 상관관계 분석 = Analysis of the Relationship Between Export Diversification & Concentration and Trade Performance in South Korea-India Trade

This study analyzes the impact of export-import diversification and concetnration on South Korea's trade performance with India from 2004 to 2023. Unlike previous research, this study takes a sector-specific approach, rather than a comprehensive one. The Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) was used to measure the concentration of exports and imports, and the data were analyzed across different industries.
The empirical analysis showed that the HHI index had a statistically significant positive effect across all export and import analyses. In the export sector, steel, electronics, and machinery industries exhibited the effects of export diversification, while other industries primarily showed export concentration. The electronics and machinery sectors, in particular, showed statistically insignificant results. In the import sector, all industries except for textiles, steel, and machinery demonstrated that import concentration contributed to the increase in imports from India.
Based on these results, the study suggests that differentiated strategies by industry are necessary to expand trade between South Korea and India. Additionally, to address the trade imbalance, promoting the diversification of imported products is crucial.
