A triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structure can easily design a specific part with desired characteristics through the control of the repeated regular shape, packing ratio, and porosity. The properties of the part are dependent on the design and fabrication method of the TPMS structure. The aim of the study is to investigate the design and fabricated characteristics of TPMS structures. Three types of TPMS structures, including primitive, gyroid, and diamond, are designed using the nTopology program. The TPMS structures are fabricated via a vat photopolymerization process. The material of the photopolymer resin is a polycarbonate. The effects of the design parameters of the TPMS structure on the surface to volume ratio (S/V) and packing ratio are investigated. In addition, the influence of the design parameters on the fabrication and failure characteristics of the TPMS structure is examined. Finally, an appropriate design methodology of the TPMS structure is discussed.
