만성질환 노인의 경제활동이 건강상태와 건강 만족도에 미치는 영향 = Effects of the Economic Activities of the Elderly with Chronic Diseases on their Health Status and Health Satisfaction

As human life expectancy increases, interest in improving the health and quality of life of the elderly is also increasing. Several studies have revealed that the health status and economic activity of the elderly have a positive impact on their overall satisfaction with life. However, there have been few studies on the role of economic activities in the lives of elderly people wherein such activities may be limited due to diseases that are difficult to cure, such as chronic diseases. Also, few studies have assessed whether such economic activities can increase the life satisfaction of the elderly. In this study, the results of analysis using a generalized linear model confirmed that economic activity had a positive effect on both the health status and health satisfaction in elderly people with chronic diseases. Additionally, the moderating effect of net assets was also confirmed in the relationship between economic activity, health status, and health satisfaction. Likewise, economic activity to increase income could be a way to maintain the current health status through working activities for the elderly with chronic diseases and this would help increase physical and emotional life satisfaction. The significance of this study is that these results can be used as basic data to devise ways for the elderly with chronic diseases to continue their economic activities while managing their disease well.
