글로벌 금융위기가 사업체의 품목구성에 미치는 영향 = The Impact of the Global Financial Crisis on Product Compositions of Plants

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 글로벌 금융위기로 인한 급격한 대외수요 감소가 사업체 품목구성에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증적 증거를 제시한다. 2009년 글로벌 금융위기 전후 한국 사업체-품목 데이터를 활용한 실증분석을 통하여 본 연구는 다음과 같은 결과를 제공한다. 첫째, 글로벌 금융위기 이후 수출업체의 생산성 증가는 비수출업체 보다 크게 나타났다. 둘째, 수출업체는 비수출업체와 비교하여 품목 범위는 더 줄이고 주력품목에 대한 생산 집중도는 높였다. 마지막으로 글로벌 금융위기에 따라 기업이 전반적으로 비주력 품목의 생산을 중단할 확률이 높은데, 이러한 경향은 수출업체에서 그리고 장기로 갈수록 강해지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 대외충격에 따른 거시적 생산성 변화를 미시적 차원의 기업 내 품목 조정과 자원재분배 메커니즘을 통하여 규명하였다.

This study presents empirical evidence on the impact of the sudden decrease in external demand due to the global financial crisis on the product composition of Korean plants. Through empirical analysis using Korean plant-product data before and after the 2009 global financial crisis, this study provides the following findings. First, the productivity increase of exporting firms after the global financial crisis was significantly higher than that of non-exporting firms. Second, compared to non-exporting plants, exporting plants reduced their product scope and concentrated on their core products. Lastly, as a result of the global financial crisis, the probability of firms discontinuing the production of non-core products overall was higher, and this tendency became stronger in exporting firms and over the long term. This study elucidates macroeconomic productivity changes due to external shocks through the mechanism of product adjustment and resource reallocation within firms at a micro level.
