흐룬 판 프린스터러의 기독교 세계관에 관한 고찰 = A Research on the Christian Worldview of Groen van Prinsterer

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 네덜란드의 기독 정치인이자 역사가였던 흐룬 판 프린스터러(G. Groen van Prinsterer, 1801-1876)의 기독교 세계관에 관한 연구이다. 그는 19세기 후반 유럽에 풍미하던 자유주의적이고 혁명적인 인본주의 세계관에 맞서 모든 영역에 하나님의 주권을 인정하는 성경적 세계관에 기초하여 역사관, 국가관, 정치관 및 교육관을 발전시키며 언론과 출판 기타 구체적인 활동을 통해 네덜란드의 교회와 사회를 개혁하려고 노력했다. 특히 기독교 정당 활동의 선구자였고 동시에 기독학교가 공립학교와 동등하게 정부의 지원을 받을 수 있도록 투쟁한 소위 ‘학교 투쟁(schoolstrijd)’의 지도자로서 활동하면서 나중에 그의 후계자 아브라함 카이퍼에게 결정적 영향을 주었다. 그는 개신교 네덜란드는 하나님의 섭리로 탄생했다고 보았으며 프랑스 혁명의 정신의 뿌리는 결국 하나님에 대한 불신앙이라고 비판했다. 이러한 흐룬의 사상은 지금도 전 세계적으로 많은 영향을 주고 있다. 그의 기독교 세계관은 매우 중요하며 한국 상황에 던지는 함의도 깊다. 따라서 본 논문은 먼저 그의 생애를 간략히 살펴본 후 그의 기독교 세계관을 역사와 국가관, 정치관 및 교육관으로 나누어 고찰하고 그의 유산을 분석한 후 그가 한국적 상황에 던지는 교훈은 무엇인지 평가함으로 결론을 맺는다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This article investigates the Christian worldview of G. Groen van Prinsterer(1801-1876), a Dutch Christian politician and historian. Against the liberal, revolutionary and humanistic worldview that prevailed in Europe in the late 19th century, he developed a Christian view of history, state, politics, and education based on the Bible that acknowledges God's sovereignty in all areas. Through media, publications, and other concrete activities, he tried to transform the Dutch reformed church and society. In particular, he was a pioneer of Christian political party and at the same time acted as the leader of the so-called ‘school struggle’, which fought for Christian schools to receive government financial support on an equal basis with public schools. In this way, Groen made a decisive influence on Abraham Kuyper who succeeded him. He argued that the Protestant Netherlands was born by God's providence, and so criticized the spirit of the French Revolution as an unbelief in God. Furthermore, he made a lot of impact all over the world. Since his Christian worldview is very important and has deep implications for the situation in Korea, this article first examines his life and analyzes his Christian worldview especially on history-state, politics and education. After his legacy is mentioned, a conclusion is drawn with some lessons he gives in the Korean context.
