여자축구선수의 스포츠사회화 과정에 존재하는 젠더 불평등 = Gender Inequality in the Sport Socialization Process of Female Soccer Players

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to understand gender inequality that exists in the process of sports socialization of female soccer players.
Methods: To achieve the purpose of this study, three former female soccer players, one female soccer player, and one female soccer team teacher were selected as the participants. The data were collected through in-depth interviews, and the collected data were analyzed through thematic analysis.
Results: The discriminatory mechanisms that prevented women from entering the soccer world were their identity as women, their parents' gender awareness, and gender norms that standardized the participation path. The specific tendencies that female soccer players embodied through soccer were recognized as norm violators who did not keep femininity, and the social status and capital they acquired were significantly lower than those of male soccer players. The early retirement and dropout of female soccer players were caused by gender discrimination and discriminatory career advancement in the soccer world, and the specific tendencies embodied in the soccer world contradicted the norms and values of other societies and hindered their re-socialization.
Conclusion: In the process of sports socialization of female soccer players, inequality of opportunities and results existed.
Therefore, in order to resolve their inequality, it is necessary to improve the system for gender equality in the soccer world, change the male-dominated culture, and improve the sociocultural awareness.
