다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

While black markets are a global phenomenon since time immemorial, the global proliferation of U.S. military bases since World War II and the expansion of U.S. military PXs based on the overwhelming productive capacity of the U.S., and the black markets derived therefrom, are quite different from traditional black markets in terms of the use of MPC(Military Payment Certificate), the variety and scale of goods, and the impact on local communities. South Korea’s black market expanded to the point where it was dubbed the “PX economy” in the 1950s with the expansion of U.S. military PXs and Korean-Japanese smuggling trade after the Korean War. In addition, the black market in South Korea since the Korean War has been dominated by luxury goods with high distribution margins, along with daily necessities and medicines. Based on this understanding, this study examines how the presence of U.S. troops and the full-scale operation of U.S. military PXs has transformed South Korea’s black market, and how the quantitative and qualitative expansion of the black market has affected the South Korean economy and society. It also explores how the distribution of "Yankee goods," or American-made goods, based on organized smuggling and theft, has evolved and become a part of the daily lives of Koreans despite the efforts of UN forces and the South Korean government to crack down on it.
