야담에서 공심의 생성과 정의 = The Emergence of Public Spirit and the Stories of Justice in Yadam

국문 초록 (Abstract)

야담은 사심과 공심이 개입하여 정의가 구현되는 양상을 다채롭게 보인다. 사심만 개입한 야담, 사심과 공심이 갈등하는 야담, 사심과 공심이 조화롭게 공존하는 야담, 공심만 존재하는 야담 등으로 분기되었다고 할 수 있다.
사심만 개입하는 야담에 공심이 생성되어 사심과 갈등하거나 사심과 공존하기에 이르는 과정은 야담 서사 안에서 주체의 욕망에 대한 성찰이 구체적으로 이뤄진 결과라 할 수 있다. 나아가 공심만 존재하는 야담이 창출된 것은 우리 서사에서 ‘보은’의 프레임으로부터 해방되는 것이 쉽지 않았다는 것, 사심과 공심의 공존하는 것이 매우 불안정한 상황인 것을 거듭 경험했기 때문일 것이다.
야담이 무매개적 정의나 매개적 정의를 실천하는 인물 이야기를 다채롭게 담을 수 있었던 것은 야담이야말로 시대의 흐름에 민감했던 실존 인물의 사연을 가장 앞서서 반영할 수 있었던 덕이라고 본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Yadam represents the various ways in which justice is implemented by the intervention of public spirit and selfish mind. Yadam, therefore, can be classified into four distinctive types depending on the degrees of interaction between them. The first two types are those of stories dominated either by selfish mind or by public spirit and the latter types are those generated either by the conflict or harmony between the two.
Transition from the stories of pure selfish mind to those where interaction between public spirit and selfish mind results in either conflict or harmony reflects the concrete examination of people's desire within the Yadam narrative. Furthermore, the emergence of Yadam stories of pure public spirit proves the difficulty of liberating "give-and-take" frame from the Yadam narrative and results from the people's experience of very unstable coexistence between the two.
Due to Yadam's swift adoption of and sensitivity to the real people's experience of the time, Yadam was able to incorporate a wide variety of stories about people who pursued justice economically or legally, faster than any other literary genres,
