시진핑의 중국몽과 정체성 정치 = 일대일로, AIIB 그리고 패권정체성

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

President Xi Jinping has been constantly referring to ‘the Chinese Dream’ from the first term in power in 2013 until the recent 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. What does Xi’s ‘Chinese Dream’ mean in international politics? This study reinterprets the significance of ‘Chinese Dream’ on an international political level, on the discussion of identity of the constructivism. The essence of China’s Dream is China’s quest for position in the international society through its horizontal relationship with the United States and its superpowers diplomacy. It is also a series of political maneuvering to establish China’s role and identity as a hegemonic power to stand on its feet in the regional economic arena. As a strategy, China is pushing for a ‘One Belt, One Road(OBOR)’ plan and the establishment of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank(AIIB), which provides resources and capital to the countries involved. The process is an attempt to establish itself as a regional economic hegemony by inter-subjectively sharing China’s role with its linked partners. In short, Xi’s politics of identity to establish a regional hegemonic nation is a ‘great Chinese national revival,’ and an identity to build a regional hegemonic nation that reflects China’s traits. In addition, the study points out that Xi’s China’s hegemonic identity politics is limiting due to the clash between the uniqueness of China and the universality of the capitalist economic order.
