일본 역사지리정보시스템(HGIS)의 연구현황과 활용에 관한 연구|RISS 상세보기

국문 초록 (Abstract)

일본 역사지역의 경관 형성과 변천을 주된 연구과제로 하는 역사지리학 분야에서는, 당시의 지역 공간 복원의 방법으로 고지도와 고문헌 등의 역사적 자료를 사용해 왔다. 점차 지적도, 대축척 지도의 제작과정이 기술과 더불어 발달하였고, 기술 향상으로 항공사진 등의 자료를 이용하게 되었다. 특히 1990년 이후 등장한 고도의 지리정보시스템(GIS, Geographic Information System)과 보급으로 지역 공간을 복원하는 방법에 있어서 새로운 동향을 맞이하게 된다. 지리정보시스템은 지역에 대한 위치정보의 정확성과 방대한 지역의 정보로 더욱 세밀한 지역 공간의 분석이 가능하게 되었다. 이 논문에서는 일본의 역사지리학 분야에서 새로운 연구 동향으로 거론되는 있는 역사지리정보시스템(HGIS, Historical Geographic Information System)을 이용하여, 일본 도쿄도 다이토쿠 우에노(日本東京都台東区上野) 지역을 사례로 근세 시대에 간행된 문헌 자료의 조합을 통한 복원도를 제작하였다. 이러한 과거 지역의 공간 복원 시도는 궁극적으로 지역의 사회 문화적 이해를 높임은 물론, 향후 지리정보시스템을 교육환경에 반영함과 동시에 토지 행정 정책에서도 유용하게 활용될 수 있다고 전망한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Historical Geography has made an important role to examine the restoration and changes of Japanese historical regions using historical old maps and documents. Increasingly with advances in technological map-making procedure, cadaster, large-scale maps and aerial photographs have been used in researches. Especially in the 1990s, the introduction of GIS (Geographic Information System) brought current trends. Accurate information of regional location as well as data on vast regions from GIS help to analyze regional space in detail. This study restored the map of Ueno area in Tokyo Taitoku through Historical Geographic Information System discussed as a new tool in Historical Geography. Also historical materials in Edo era were researched and based in conjunction with Historical Geographic Information System (HGIS) data when map- restoring. The practice of regional space restoration helps enhance social and cultural understanding of a local area. Lastly the study predicts that the restoration of an area in the past is useful to educational environment and administrative policies.
