조선시대 오경(五經) 문헌(文獻)의 진위성(眞僞性) 검열에 대한 공적 담론 = Public Discourse on the Authenticity of the Five Chinese Classics Related Texts in the Joseon Dynasty

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 조선시대 공적 담론 가운데 五經 관련 문헌의 ‘僞’적 요소에 대한 辨僞的 점검과 검열 양상을 살피는 것을 중심 목표로 삼는다. 본 연구를 통해 유가경전으로서의 五經이 ‘經’이라는 권위를 부여받았음에도 불구하고 그와 관련한 작자·문헌·전승·주석 등의 문제들이 疑古·辨僞의 대상이 되어왔으며 과거시험·經筵 등 공적 담론 공간에서 희소하나마 이른 시기부터 관련 논의가 거론되어왔음을 일견할 수 있었다.
五經 문헌의 僞적 요소에 대한 공론장에서의 직접적 비판은 매우 드물며 비판적 입장을 견지한다 하더라도 표명하는 언어가 소극적인 경향을 보인다. 경연과 시제에서 五經에 던지는 辨僞적 문제들은 때로는 오경의 권위를 공고화시키는 논거를 마련하기 위해 던져진 것일 수 있다. 그러나 조선시대 공적 담론 공간은 최소한 오경을 객관적 문헌으로 고찰할 수 있는 가능성을 남겨 두었다는 점에서 여전히 유효한 의의를 지니며 조선시대 경학사에서 관련 논의를 형성하고 견인하는 데 간과할 수 없는 역할을 하였다고 사료된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This essay mainly focuses on the aspects of contemplating or reviewing the authenticity of the Five Chinese Classics related texts shown in public sphere during the Joseon Dynasty. The Five Chinese Classics have their own doubtful points such as their uncertain author issues, the complicated text transmissions and their unjustifiable commentaries, which could influence their authority. We find out that, although it was a small amount, there were some references about these issues in the royal lectures (Gyungyeon) and the national examinations.
This essay shows that the direct criticism about the doubtful points related to authenticity of the Five Classics in public discourse was very rare, and even if holding a critical stance, its expression usually tended to remain passive. It is possible that these doubtful questions might be given for the purpose of establishing grounds to assert the authority of the Five Classics. However, we believe that the public discourse in the Joseon Dynasty was still valid for opening the possibilities to raise these doubtful questions to a scientific level. In this respect, we confirm that the doubtful questions about the Five Classics in public sphere took the unneglectable role in evoking the scientific discussion of the Five Classics’ text authenticity in the late Joseon Dynasty.
