한국 대학생의 세계시민의식과 문화다양성태도 영향 요인 = What Affects Korean Undergraduates' Global Perspective and Attitude Toward Cultural Diversity?

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In recent years, the issues of globalization and cultural diversity have gained increasing attention in the Korean society. The purpose of this study was to examine the level of global perspective and attitude toward cultural diversity among Korean undergraduates and to identify critical factors affecting these constructs. The data was collected from 403 undergraduates at 5 Universities in Seoul. The result indicated that students had a moderate to high level of global perspective and attitude toward cultural diversity on this scale. Students who majored in humanities and those who took the cultural diversity courses were more likely to have a higher level of global perspective and attitude toward cultural diversity than students who majored in natural science and medical science or those who did not take the cultural diversity courses. Students who had experiences as volunteers also scored higher on the global perspective. Finally, self-efficacy and interpersonal skill had positive effect on the global perspective and attitude toward cultural diversity. Based on the results, implications for education to improve global perspective and attitude toward cultural diversity and further research directions were discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

한국은 세계화에 따른 국가 간 상호의존성 증강과 더불어 다문화사회로 급변해감에 따라 세계시민의식과 문화다양성태도 함양이 요구된다. 본 연구는 우리사회를 이끌어 갈 대학생들의 세계시민의식과 문화다양성태도의 수준을 파악하고, 개인 요인, 학습 및 경험 요인, 자기효능감과 대인관계기술 중 어떠한 요인들이 세계시민의식과 문화다양성태도에 긍정적으로 기여하는지를 살펴봄으로써 세계시민으로서 대학생들이 갖추어야할 역량을 높일 수 있는 구체적인 방안을 끌어내고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 서울지역 대학교 재학생 403명을 대상으로 설문조사한 자료를 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 살펴보면, 조사대상자의 세계시민의식 및 문화다양성태도는 중간보다 약간 높은 수준인 것으로 나타났다. 개인 요인에서는 자연과학 및 의․약학계열보다 인문계열 전공학생이, 학습 및 경험 요인에서는 문화다양성 강의를 수강한 경우 세계시민의식 및 문화다양성 태도가 높았다. 또한, 국내외 자원봉사 경험은 세계시민의식에 긍정적으로 기여하였으며, 자기효능감과 대인관계기술이 높을수록 세계시민의식 및 문화다양성 태도가 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 대학생의 세계시민의식과 문화다양성에 대한 긍정적인 태도 함양을 위한 교육적 방안을 논하고, 후속연구 방향을 제시해 보았다.
