The post-socialist transition of the Baltic states has been described as a century of independence movements to get away from Russia since the 19th century. How did the independent experience of the Baltic states leave behind
the legacy of the socialist system and what influenced it? The article examined the independent experiences of the Baltic states as a separate historical development process of independence, national building, democracy, and
authoritarianism. Observing differences in the evolution of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the 1920s, this shows considerable signs of impact of each country s independence. The degree of land reform in each country s has been linked to the strength of parliamentary democracy and the development of party politics, which has subsequently been associated with the development of parliamentary democracy. The most radical form of land reform was achieved in Estonia, is associated with the largest democratic and liberal forces in the Eastonian
political system, and the subsequent authoritarian rule was the least brutal. In Lithuania, a strong presidential constitution is adopted, and it is ashamed of in a lack of land reform. In Lithuania, strong Christian conservative political party was developed, and authoritarian rule after powerful president has been emerged.
They have also developed a similar path since the 1990s, building an independent nation. In three countries where independent nations and democracy have been experienced, independence from the Soviet Union has evolved
gradually. The transition of the Baltic states shows how important the historic experience of establishing an independent state building before the ideological race of the Cold War.
