국제경기 선수촌에서의 성 윤리 문제 = Issue of Sexual Ethics in the Athletes’Village for International Games

This study is to point out a variety of sexual ethical issues in the athletes’ village for international games and interpret them. Athletes have spent the time training themselves and suppressing their urges and desires for the victory with self-control. However, there can be a phenomenon in which athlethes can not control their urges which has been suppressed for a fairly long time due to various factors, such as the relief of stress and tension all at once, after the games have been finished. At last, organizing committee came to distribute the free condoms in an effort to minimize the problems caused by this. However, the distribution of the condoms may be considered to overlook one important fact that it can worsen the sexual ethical issues in the athletes’village for international games. A view of sexual ethics must depend on each athlete's personal, religious, cultural, social characteristics. This study explored a variety of the existing sexual ethics trends (Conservative sexual ethics, Liberal sexual ethics, Radical sexual ethics, Centrist sexual ethics) and compared them with the current situation. Furthermore, it raised the problems of such sexual ethics trends and considered some solutions. In conclusion, this study is not to criticize the a variety of sexual ethical issues which occur in the athletes’village for international games but to recognize the difference caused by the various sexual ethical trends and to instill a sense of responsibility and a sense of belonging into the athletes by providing more universal measures.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 국제경기 선수촌 내에서 나타나는 다양한 성 윤리적 문제를 지적하고, 그에 대한 해석을 시도하는데 목적이 있다. 선수들은 자신의 욕구와 욕망을 억제하고 승리라는 목표를 위해 훈련과 자기통제라는 억압된 시간을 보낸다. 하지만 경기가 종료된 후 그 긴장감이 일시에 해소되는 등의 다양한 요인으로 인해 그 동안 억제되어 왔던 욕구를 통제하지 못하는 현상이 발생할 수 있다. 조직위원회측은 이로 인한 문제를 최소화하기 위한 일환으로 선수들에게 콘돔을 무료로 배포하기에 이른다. 그러나 이러한 콘돔의 배포는 선수촌 내에서의 성 윤리 문제를 더욱 가열화 시킬 수 있음을 간과한 대처로 비춰질 수도 있다. 선수들마다 개인적, 종교적, 문화적, 사회적인 다양한 특성을 보유하고 있기에 그에 따른 성 윤리관 또한 각양각색일 수밖에 없을 것이다. 이 연구에서는 현존하는 다양한 성 윤리 사조(보수주의 성 윤리, 자유주의 성 윤리, 급진주의 성 윤리, 중도주의 성 윤리)를 파악하여 현 실정과 비교하는 작업을 진행하였다. 나아가 그러한 성 윤리 사조의 특성에 대한 문제점을 제기하고, 그에 대한 방안을 고찰하였다. 이러한 결론은 선수촌 내에서 발생하는 다양한 성 윤리적 문제를 비판하는 입장이 아니라 다양한 성 윤리 사조에 따른 차이를 인정하고 보다 보편적인 방안을 제시함으로써 선수들의 소속감 및 책임감을 고취시키고자 하는 주장이다.
