동네 놀이터의 특징과 의미에 관한 현상학적 연구 = Phenomenological study on the features and meanings of local playground

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is a phenomenological study intended to understand the characteristics of outdoor playground and its meanings. Two local playgrounds were selected as study sites and observed for 8months. Data selected were analyzed under van Manen(2014)’s analysis frame, existentials of lived time, lived relationships, lived space, lived body and lived things. The analysis of playground characteristics focused on each of the existentials are not one sided but contradictorily two sided. The features of the playgrounds are thematized. Time features are thematized as repetition’ and ‘difference’, relationship features as ‘paralleled’ and ‘ordered’, space features as ‘boundary distinctive’ and ‘boundary vague’, body features as ‘body under security regulation’ and ‘body under adventure’, and material features as ‘taming equipment’ and ‘children twisting its use.’ It is understood through these 5 symmetric features that playground is place which shows play is one way for children’s existence and made through interaction between the object(playground) and children’s noesis This study may extend understandings on children’s play and provide basic arguments in that there rarely are studies that examine children’s outdoor play outside early childhood institution.
