한말(韓末) 호남의병(湖南義兵)의 항전(抗戰)과 의병장(義兵將) = Development of anti-Japanese war of Honan Righteous Army and Righteous Army Commanders in the end period of Korean Empire

국문 초록 (Abstract)

호남의병은 전기의병기에는 동학혁명에 참여하여 많은 이들이 희생을 당한 후유증으로 적극적으로 참여할 수 없었다. 중기의병기 최익현의 태인의병은 열국 공사관에 공함을 보내 을사조약 늑결의 부당함과 일제의 침략상을 성토하면서 지원과 협조를 요청하였다. 태인의병은 관군의 출동에 맞서 전투보다는 동족간의 ‘不戰’을 택했다. 최익현과 임병찬을 비롯한 의병지휘부는 체포되어 옥고를 치렀다. 그러나 최익현의 거의는 한민족에게 의병 봉기를 촉구하는 영향을 주었다. 이후 능주에서 양회일, 창평에서 고광순, 광양에서 백낙구, 남원에서 양한규 등이 의병을 일으켜 항일전쟁의 대열에 나섰다. 후기의병기 호남의병은 반제국적 성격은 물론 민중적인 성격을 띄면서 격렬하게 투쟁하였다. 호남의병은 일제의 축출, 일진회를 비롯한 친일세력 처단, 일본상품의 배격 등과 같은 민족적인 이념은 물론이고, 탐학한 관리의 축출과 같은 반봉건적인 이념을 동시에 내세웠다. 호남의병은 지역 주민과의 유대를 강화하였으며, 장기항전에 대비하여 국내외에 의병 기지의 건설을 추진하였다. 후기 호남의병의 강력한 반일투쟁은 일제의 식민지화 정책을 지연시키는 데 기여하였으나, 일본군의 무자비한 학살을 피할 수 없었다. 호남의병은 투쟁성과 민중성을 잘 보여주었으며, 민족주의 이념 외에도 보국안민적인 동학의 이념을 계승하고 있는 점에서 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Honam(湖南) Righteous army could not actively participate in the former Righteous Army period, because many people were sacrificed since participating in the Donghak(東學) revolution. In the middle Righteous Army period, Taein(泰仁) Righteous Army commander Choi Ik-hyun sent a missive to foreign legation and protested the invasion and compulsive Eulsa Treaty by Japanese and called for the support and cooperation. Taein Righteous Army chose the ``No battle`` between kin rather than battle against government forces. Righteous Army commanders have been arrested, including Choi Ik-hyun and Im byeong-chan suffered hardships. However, the uprising of Righteous Army of Choi Ik-hyun influenced to Korea people uprising calling for the Righteous Army. Honan Righteous Army was strengthened ties with local residents, in preparation for the long-term coercive promoted the construction of the Righteous Army base at home and abroad. The anti-Japanese struggle Righteous Army in Honan Region was helped to delay the colonization policy of Korea by Japan, but could not avoid the merciless massacre by Japanese troops. Honan Righteous Army showed well the struggle and popular characters, therefore we can find meaning in that it has inherited the nationalist ideology addition to the idea of the Donghak Revolution.
