제주지역 신문의 ‘중국(인)’ 담론 연구 = ‘중국인 무사증 입국제도’와 ‘부동산 투자이민제도’를 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to find out the discourse changes on China and the Chinese people on Jeju local newspapers by the policies that are ‘No-visa entry for Chinese’ and ‘Immigration for real estate investors’.
As a result of figuring discourses according by main news article items, above all, newspapers take a position that they should accept societal threatening element to some extent for the sake of economic profit as well as constant report on ‘No-visa entry for Chinese. Secondly, Jeju still keeps attracting Chinese tourists as of now and tries to find the strategy to attract more Chinese tourists who are leading high value-added. Thirdly, news articles about Chinese investment have been increased, and most of them covered supporting argument towards Chinese investment and institutional improvement. Next, issues on the health threats due to Chinese food were transferring to threats of environment. Lastly, it highlighted over Iedo and Korea-China FTA issues that China wants to take Iedo to make agricultural and aquatic products of Jeju collapsed.
For similar articles subjects, there are subjects such as interaction focused on people and money. From the discourse of interaction between people, ‘No-visa Entry for Chinese’ in 2008 made increasing influx of Chinese group tourists and the individuals. This made diverse cultural exchanges between Korea and China, and Jeju plays crucial role in-between. Also, from the discourse of capital-centered interaction, encouraging investment policy leads to Chinese make investment and reversely, Jeju invests Chinese market as well based on the time of enforcement of permanent residency by real estate investment in 2010.
